The personal equivalent of Title Tier, Rank determines the position of a Ruler within the hierarchy of the game.

All Title Tiers have an associated Rank, which determines the highest possible Rank of Vassals that the Holder can have.

Hegemon > Emperor > King > Duke > Count > Baron.
