Use ck3db.com in your guides

Put Crusader Kings III traits, cultures, faiths, regiments, buildings and builds into a Reddit post, a Discord message, a Steam guide, a YouTube description, a forum or your blog — with the game's own card and a link to the page it came from. Free to use; keep the visible link to us. Cards update themselves after each patch (now 1.20.1.2).

Copy ▾ and + List

Every thing's page, the rows of the lists and the planners have Copy ▾: the link, Reddit (Markdown), Discord (no tables, a small caption), Steam guide or forum (BBCode, under Steam's 8,000-character limit), plain text for a YouTube description, an HTML link, the card as a picture (copy it straight into Discord or a Reddit post, or download it for a Steam guide; also as a 1200×630 post image), and what the page copies for the game: console commands (add_trait, set_culture, hello_history…), keys and DNA codes. Brave

+ List gathers things from any page into a list kept in your browser (the tray at the bottom right): reorder it, then export it in one go — a Reddit or Steam table, a Discord list, text, a picture of the cards, all the traits as one console line (effect add_trait = a add_trait = b), or a link anyone can open: ck3db.com/list?i=traits/brave,traits/diligent,traits/intellect_good_3. The planners (ruler designer, culture and faith builders, perk planner) copy the whole build the same ways.

Cards on your blog

Add one line to your site, once (WordPress: a theme's footer or a code-snippet plugin; or use our plugin below):

Then every link to a page on ck3db.com shows the game's card when readers hover it (or tap it on a phone) — like this link to Genius or Huscarls. Links to /go/<section>.<slug> and /go/<Name> work too.

Autolink

Names of 4 letters or more become links: traits, cultures, faiths, religions, regiments, artifacts and holy sites by one word, everything else by two or more — the first time each appears, up to 200 a page, never inside headings, links or code.

A Brave and Diligent ruler of a Norse culture hires Huscarls early, converts to Catholicism when it pays and keeps Genius children close.

Other elements: data-ck3db="traits/brave" gives any element a card; data-no-tip or data-ck3db="none" turns it off for one link; data-ck3db-theme sets one card's look. Our cards and their pictures load from ck3db.com; the script needs nothing else.

Notion, Ghost, Discourse, Medium, WordPress: just paste the link

Those editors ask our oEmbed endpoint and show the card in a frame (a thing's page, a /list or a planner's build): https://ck3db.com/oembed?url=https://ck3db.com/traits/brave&format=json. Discord, Reddit, Telegram and Slack show a preview with the card's icon, kind and main lines.

Forums (phpBB, XenForo)

Without any setup, BBCode links work everywhere: [url=https://ck3db.com/go/traits.brave]Brave[/url]. /go/<section>.<slug> goes to that page; /go/<Name> to the thing of that name, else to our search with the name typed in. A forum admin can add a short tag, so members write [ck3]Varangian Guards[/ck3]:

phpBB's {INTTEXT} takes letters (any alphabet), numbers, spaces, commas, dots, plus, hyphen and underscore — a name with an apostrophe goes by its key: [ck3]starts.163101[/ck3].

XenForo 2: the custom BB code manager

BB code tag ck3, replacement mode “Simple replacement”, supports option parameter “No”, HTML replacement ({text} is what members write between the tags):

WordPress plugin

Download GameDB Cards (gamedb-cards.zip) — install it under Plugins → Add New → Upload. It loads the script for you (the usage ping is off unless you turn it on) and adds a shortcode:

id is the part after ck3db.com/ of a thing's card: section/slug, as in the builder above; modes link, card, list, embed.
