Game concept
Contract
The game also links it as Contracts, Contract's, Contracts'.
From the game's encyclopedia
Contracts are the primary way that Adventurers make Gold or Prestige. They can also award Provisions, Piety, and even Artifacts.
Each one is a task put out by a local Ruler — generally requiring the Adventurer to perform a Scheme, complete a Travel, or help them in War — and can be undertaken for a reward and to put the Contractor on the Roll of Patrons.
More Contracts are spawned by traveling either long distances or to new Kingdoms.
The higher the Tier or the Ruler offering a Contract, the higher that Contract's Tier. Higher tiers pay substantially better.
Beware Criminal Contracts: their rewards are often excellent, but the world has far less understanding for the petty crimes of some homeless vagrant than a Landed Liege.
