Mandala Succession
The game also links it as Succession, Mandala Trials, Devaraja Successor.
From the game's encyclopedia
When a Mandala Ruler passes on, and has chosen a Mandala Aspect, their Heir faces the Mandala Succession Trials. In these Trials, the Heir is subject to Skill Challenges which test their mettle in the associated Aspect Skill but also two other Aspect Skills.
Succeeding these trials means the Heir managed to convince their followers that they are a worthy successor and the Realm remains stable.
Failing however, will incur increasing penalties:
• 1 Failed Challenge: Losing a Level of Devotion and a small amount of Tributaries break free.
• 2 Failed Challenges: Losing two Level(s) of Devotion and all Tributaries break free.
• All Failed Challenges: Losing three Level(s) of Devotion and the shattering of the Realm.
