Gaocheng Observatory
dengfeng_observatory_01This site has been favored for astronomical observation for centuries, due to its geomantic qualities and symbolic geographic centrality within China. The current structure, a complex trapezoidal shape, serves as a vast sundial, with the tall central ruler casting its shadow into the trench that divides the platform, and marking the passage of the sun.
